About Us

Mirna Mulato, owner of Rex for Health Products, is the proud mother of an eight-year-old son, Cesar, and a 2-year-old boxer, Max.   She has long been interested in nutrition and natural health care for her husband, a diabetic, as well as for her son and dog.  She first learned of the raw food program for her dog when he was all of a sudden struck with a complete loss of appetite and extreme weight loss for no apparent reason.  Raw food and homeopathy pulled Max through this severe episode within a couple of days.  She decided then, she would do everything she could to share her information and start producing organic supplements for dogs and cats.

After leaving Directional Furniture he became head designer for Thomas Basille and Associates for four years prior to opening his own design firm and developing properties.

Ed is one of the founders of the Silver Lake Dog Park association, one of the largest and most successful in Los Angeles, California. He is active in dog rescue and an animal advocate. Ed is now semi-retired and living in Palm Springs, California, with his rescued animals  He has 3 dogs; Pillar, a 16-year-old, Rottweiler/Sight-Hound mix 75#, Bogie, a 19-year-old Belgian Tervuren/Golden Retriever mix 85#, Diego a 13-year-old Blue Dobermann 120# , and Willie a 17-year-old Persian cat who survived jawbone cancer six years ago.

Margie Brinkman started her career as a surgical dental assistant. In the 1960’s she added bookkeeping to her skills and switched professions. Her husband Mike is a Navy man, now retired. Their love of animals meant everything to them, and being able to afford them was her first consideration. She always bought her dog and cat food from a pet store, because she thought it was a better quality than pet food in the grocery store, and always had someone to talk to about what she was buying, so she felt confident she was doing the very best for her loving pets.

After losing seven dogs in a row to cancer, her groomer introduced her to Pat McKay who explained the benefits of her raw food program. Margie decided to give it a try.

As they were walking to their car, her husband asked, “How do we know she isn’t telling us what we want to hear?” This is where Margie believed in science, so she took their animals to their vet and asked for a full blood panel. Then they started the raw food diet and supplements.  About three months later they went back to their vet and had the blood work run again. The results were impressive, and even their vet who clearly felt they were crazy had to admit, the lab work says it all; he commented: “I wish my own lab work was as good as your dogs’.”

After this experience they became involved with Collie Rescue, and took on three more dogs. One was a Shepherd/Collie mix about 10 years old; the other two were pure Collies about 8 years old. The Shepherd/Collie mix lived to 20 years, and the other two Collies lived to 18 years. In their late teens, they just started to atrophy, and their vet said they could not stop the dying, but they had stopped the illness and suffering, and it was time to let go. Margie’s mission in life: “To have only the amount of animals that I can afford to give the best quality of life. Mike and I never had any children, so they are our kids. They give us unconditional love, and we try to give them back nothing less.”
